[...] Is Art World Magazine the latest casualty of the financial crisis after just over two years on the racks? According to the rumour mill it is. An email circulated by the magazine’s editorial team did not, however, provide a specific reason for the disappearance of the fine art world equivalent of Vogue magazine. According to the email, “Due to personal family reasons Steve Bush – the publisher and owner of B5 Media – is stepping back from the business and the next issue of Art World is on indefinite hold while we explore future options.” Part of the reason for the magazine’s closure may be the demise of his marriage but it would quite plausible that the financial crisis is at least partly to blame. With two separate editions, one published in the UK and the other in Australia, the closure of the magazine will have an impact on many people who will. . . .___________READ ON. [...]

Just returned from traveling, no Art Worlds in my pile of mail. So, is it another casualty of the credit crunch? This magazine sub costs just £22.50 a year online in the UK, luxury item? I'll miss it, anyone got a spare issue no.2 ?

It's a shame this magazine has gone under, though it was a luxury item it was nicely put together. That said, with the rise of the web and webtv, it's going to be harder and harder for publications like this to compete - I read the interview Art World did on Grayson Perry and thought it was very good but frankly, I'd rather see the man speaking for himself - we were lucky enough to get to film him and put his interview online.

This kind of content is proving more and more popular - soon we won't be reading anything on the train anymore, just watching it on an iphone.

Shame since it was the best Art Magazine around. Good selection of artist, interesting opinions, news all in one in perfect shape. And now I need to look for something else and to be honest I don't like any of the other ones as much not as interesting. I hope I will manage to at least order back issuse of my favorite Art World

While musing about what is going to happen to art world publications, we close our eyes to what's happening with our morality. Thus there is no wonder the artist turn from the eternal values to the marketing of themselves. Show bloom, yet is it not the failure? The profitable failure that divides the world into the art world and all other that should applaud to ... what?

Hi Nic, Well well that is a shame.

But to be honest I think people just look on the net now for all the latest gossip and news.

Take facebook, everyone and their mother, brother and sister in the art world are there now and connecting up like a long lost family.

Times are changing Nic and for the good I say,,, you don't need to buy mags anymore.

I for one look up the Arts news paper, but to be honest they are a bit slow and second hand at news.

I also keep an open eye on your blogs to find out whats hot and whats not at the other side of the world.

Glenn Brady in OZ, you can find on facebook is a great artist, one to watch.

Nice one Nic, nice and to the point as ever.
