THIS IS AN OBAMA PORTRAIT TO BE SEEN - it will be on display at various locations during the Inaugural Week.

"First Among Equals For The 44th Time"
by artist WILLIAM DUNLAP

Washingtonian magazine invited Mr. William Dunlap, Major American Artist, Author and Arts Commentator, to create a painting for their feature article, Visions of Obama in the January 2009 Special Inauguration Edition.

“To create the portrait, William Dunlap worked from digital photographs in reverse channeling the techniques of old masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Velásquez, painted the face in mirror image – the way Rembrandt made his self-portrait (and the way Obama sees himself each morning) – imbuing the scene with “Renaissance light” and “Holbein green,” the rich color the painter Hans Holbein used in portraits of King Henry VIII, resulting in a museum quality modern portrait that is more painterly and less photographic.” *Copyright 2009 Washingtonian

I read your blog all the time and would love to hear your thoughts on two things
1. How the downturn is changing the art banking world. Lending against, and also as a high level client service, UBS etc.
2. Also how are people's career's within the art world changing. People who work as appraisers, dealers, consultants, working within the auction house. I know how my job as an appraiser is changing but would love to hear your thoughts.
