Americans Ditch Art Market –

One of my very reliable Sotheby’s insiders has just revealed to me that a large majority of the buyers at the Damien Hirst auction were Russian and MIddle Eastern with very few American buyers which one would presume would have to be a result of the recent financial problems plaguing the US at the present time. More on this developing story soon…

According to your views and knowledge about the economic situation in the US, what do you suggest to new american emerging artists? What to do to attract the buying art collectors?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Emelina,
Thanks for the comment. My suggestion to new American emerging artists is to not submit to the pressure to create works for quick money and instead to produce high quality original work and maintain their integrity and standards. In the end quality and originality will prevail and should help encourage long term desirability as opposed to short term hype.
