An election year typically does produce good economic results. Turns out it didn't for 2008. Things are, however, looking up for the US economy in the long term and the art market continues to thrive through touch economic times.

alright Mr. Forrest its 2012 now and doesn't seem like we've had that upswing in the economy like you prognosed for the election year. maybe it'll be this coming one. has your outlook changed? is the American economy doomed and therefore American art?

As they say in the stock market: Buy as cheaply. Now probably the most favorable time to purchase works of art.

Very intresting. I have to agree with both you and Adam, who commented before me. Globalisation definitely has an effect on the world market as such..not only on the US market. However I do agree, that election times will have a good effect on the economy and thus the Art market as well.

I am not as optimistic as you are, not only about the art market but the US economy in general. I don't think the housing crisis is coming to an end but will extend throughout 2008.

Also I don't think you can assume that a US recession will influence potential US buyers only. The economy is becoming more and more global and interconnected.
